Summer Hill 02
Wangal Country
Builder: Restorial
As the northern neighbour to Summer Hill 01, this semi-detached home was reimagined to strengthen its connection to the rear garden and existing studio. Lowering the ground floor by one metre creates a seamless transition to the compact courtyard, expanding the sense of space and enhancing indoor–outdoor living.
A carefully proportioned gabled first-floor addition preserves sunlight to the adjoining property's clerestory windows while creating a generous main bedroom and ensuite. A central lightwell, expressed in Corten steel, separates the new addition from the original roof form, drawing daylight deep into the home.
Protected north-facing glazing enhances solar access at ground level, while layered boundary planting softens the tight urban setting, creating a verdant outlook that belies the site's compact dimensions.
